4K makes artistic statement at Diesel pop-up shop
Fashion brand Diesel picked our VPL-GTZ1 4K laser projector to brighten its pop-up shop in Tokyo’s Isetan department store.
The retailer approached contemporary artist Eugene Kangawa to showcase its Spring/Summer ‘16 clothing collection that featured natural floral themes. After consultation with Sony, the elegantly-styled ultra short throw projector was the film-maker’s clear choice.
“Ordinary projectors lose brightness around the edges, but the laser light source of the VPL-GTZ1 projects light evenly across the entire image which makes it suitable for works of art” notes Kangawa.
The VPL-GTZ1 effortlessly handled the task of projecting stunning images: “We positioned the projector just 17cm from the wall, so viewers didn’t cast shadows in the small space: this was really nice”.
Diesel Japan’s Takamichi Mimuro echoes the artist’s enthusiasm: “In the apparel industry, there are many ways for brands to communicate their appeal. It’s important to let customers experience the clothing, beyond just looking at models wearing it. I like the idea of using cutting-edge technology that can connect directly with the brand”.
From the perspective of a video artist, the projector is critical. I think the VPL-GTZ1 with its excellent colour reproduction capabilities will have a new effect on artistic creativity. Creators can deliver moments captured by the camera, just as they’re supposed to appear.
