Bowers & Wilkins HTM71 S3 Center channel speaker - each - Gloss Black

ย

A major upgrade to an impressive center channel speaker

The Bowers & Wilkins HTM71 S3 takes your home theater system into hi-fi territory, and you can tell at first glance that it represents a major upgrade over its already excellent predecessor, the S2 version. The driver array has been completely reconfigured, with the tweeter conspicuously moving to the iconic solid-body housing on top of the cabinet, and sporting re-sized midrange and bass cones. These technological advancements help create an incredibly accurate, detailed soundstage. And it now adds the gorgeous new mocha finish, so it can fit visually as well as sonically in a surround-sound system with 700 Series front and surround speakers.

Proprietary drivers

Bowers & Wilkins has spent decades creating and honing technology that gives their speakers a unique and beautiful "voice."

The 1" Decoupled Carbon Domeโ„ข tweeter was purpose-built for the 700 Series to bring studio-quality sound to your home system. It's crucial for making dialogue come through crisp, loud, and clear. Bowers & Wilkins' signature solid-body tweeter-on-top housing has proven to enhance high-frequency dispersion in the company's bookshelf and floor-standing loudspeakers, so it's exciting to see it appear on the HTM71 S3.

The 5" Continuumโ„ข cone FSTโ„ข midrange now benefits from the company's Biomimetic Suspension, a design which does away with the traditional fabric woofer "spider," which can introduce midrange inaccuracy. This advanced driver also features midrange decoupling technology to minimize interference from the bass drivers.

The speaker's dual 5" Aerofoilโ„ข Profile bass cones are computer-modeled to provide the stiffness and rigidity required for deep, musical bass.

Flowportโ„ข for better bass

The bass cones are aided by Bowers & Wilkins' Flowport technology. The HTM71 S3's bass reflex enclosure features a rear-firing, dimpled and flared port that provides natural bass response without the turbulent "chuffing" that standard ports can create. The speaker includes a two-piece foam plug that can be inserted if you want to adjust bass response to your liking.
